We’re currently preparing for launch and we will be ready to open the Harbour West Marina slips on June 1, once launch is underway. Because restrictions on non-essential construction and recreational businesses were lifted at the same time, there is some work yet to be completed on the walkway, after which the docks will be accessible to boaters.
Next week, we will be sharing the launch schedule, as well as physical distancing guidelines for the moving around the docks. The health and well being of our customers is our number one priority as we get you back on the water.
Below is a timeline of how we will re-open, and when…
May Long Weekend – May 16-18
STORAGE – We currently have boaters coming in and out the storage yard to prepare their vessels for launch and this will continue over the long weekend. Storage customers, please refer to our last update if you have not yet already, and make sure to email [email protected] to schedule a time slot for working on your boat over the next five days. There is a massive volume of email requests we are responding to, but we’re going through them sequentially and as quickly as possible.
If you are confirmed to visit Hillyard this weekend, please keep a physical distance of 2m between you and your fellow boaters. Remember, you must have a confirmed time; we are unable to accommodate unscheduled visits.
FISHERMAN’S PIER – We’re happy to share that the public boat launch at Fisherman’s Pier will be available for use as of tomorrow, May 16. Contact Russ who operates the ramp at 905-549-5622 if you have any questions.
Week of May 19
LAUNCH SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED – We will be ready to share the launch schedule on Tuesday, May 19. Once you have prepped your boat, please email us at [email protected] and let us know your boat is “ready” so we can add you to the launch schedule.
We will also be sharing physical distancing guidelines for marina customers next week, and bringing in seasonal staff to train them for the season ahead. (They will be provided with PPE as well.)
Week of May 25
LAUNCH BEGINS – On Monday, May 25, the launch process will begin – one boat at a time, and with physical distancing measures in place. We will contact boaters a day or two in advance of their scheduled time slot so make sure you stay in touch.
Week of June 1
OPENING OF HWM – We plan to re-open the docks and marina facilities on June 1. As mentioned above, Harbour West construction can now get back underway, and once the new walk out has been connected, we can fully open the facility to customers! And as a reminder, we’ll have staff on-site at 1 Guise St. all summer to better serve you.
