Historical events/tours

Radio operators will be broadcasting live from Canada’s most famous Tribal-class destroyer using call sign VE0NV, linking HMCS Haida with ships, stations, and enthusiasts across the globe. Visitors will have the chance to see amateur radio in action, learn how communication at sea has evolved with the Vintage Signals Team, and discover the vital role radio played in naval operations during wartime and beyond.

Open 10:00am to 5:00pm Saturday June 6 and Sunday June 7.

Enjoy a special guided tour through the gardens at Dundurn National Historic Site. Learn about the garden's history, restoration, and what fruits, flowers, and vegetables inhabit it! Tour time: 10:00am to 11:00am Adult ticket: $9.00

Spend a free fun-filled afternoon at Dundurn Park learning about Decoration Day, a military tradition dating back to the 1890s honouring veterans. See antique military vehicles, soldiers in period uniforms, displays, presentations, and join in with family-friendly activities. Open from 12:00 to 4:00pm.

Visitors learn to load and fire the 4" guns on the HMCS Haida, modelling their use during the Second World War and Korean War. Meanwhile, Parks Canada staff share technical and historical context during this exclusive program. Experience offered at 5:15 or 6:15 pm. Join a free tour, on June 21st, through the Hamilton Cemetery highlighting the stories of Hamiltonians lost at sea in naval disasters including the sinking of the Titanic and Lusitania. The tour is presented by the Hamilton Military Museum and Cemetery Chronicle Tours. Tour time: 10:00 to 11:00am.

In an intimate tour group of 10 or less people, visitors are taken to areas of the HMCS Haida normally off-limits to the public! Must be 16+ Tour time: 5:30 to 7:00pm. Adult ticket: $39.32 Seniors ticket: $38.80 Youth ticket: $34.13
